Introducing Esk Valley’s new Artisanal range; a series that allows celebrated winemaker Gordon Russell to make interesting, small batch wines that indulge his personal preferences, rather than being driven by the market dynamics of being part of the wider Villa Maria group of companies.
This delicious Hawke's Bay chardonnay is elegant and refined with a lovely seam of fresh minerality that runs through the palate. As the wine builds in the mouth, a full-bodied chardonnay with creamy mouthfeel is revealed, with classic flavours in the citrus / stonefruit spectrum. At a humble $19.99 on case buys, this magnificent chard offers outstanding value. Buy with our highest recommendation.
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Ripe, youthful, familiar. Aromas of vanilla and nut, stone fruits and ripe red apples. Moderate oak scents with a mild toasty quality and youthful complexity and charm. On the palate a generous satin textured wine with contrasting acidity then flavours that mirror the baking and toasty wood qualities. Decent length and finish a wine for enjoyment on its own or with food."
