92/100 | Natalie Maclean
Established in 1976, Duckhorn Estate have spent the last 48 years creating a name for themselves as one of the premium producers in North America. Decoy is the little brother brand to Duckhorn Estate, and this 2022 release is a lush blend of predominantly zinfandel (86%), petite sirah (12%) and carignan (2%).
This tantalizing zinfandel leaps from the glass with vibrant, concentrated aromas of wild blueberry, blackberry, and ripe plum, complemented by a touch of vanilla and freshly cracked white pepper. On the palate, the luxurious layers of dark fruit and spice unfold gracefully, gliding over velvety tannins to a rich, robust finish.

Natalie Maclean writes "From the Duckhorn Portfolio, Decoy 2022 Zinfandel is a dry, full-bodied and fresh Zin, generous and juicy with pomegranate, dark berry and ripe cherry flavours rich and generous on the palate. Enjoy it with ribs and burgers from the grill."
The winery writes "Big, bold and delicious, this wine greets you with alluring aromas of boysenberry, black cherry, mocha and cinnamon spice. On the palate, voluptuous berry pie and juicy plum flavors are framed by rich, supple tannins, with undercurrents of oak spice adding depth and complexity to the powerful, mouth-filling finish."
