From the magnificent 2013 Hawke's Bay vintage comes this excellent merlot from Cooper's Creek trusty St John Vineyard. Loaded with mocha, plums and an amalgam of lightly spicy red / black fruits this, wine is bottle-aged to perfection and in splendid, mature form. Those rich fruit flavours remain bright and are now wonderfully integrated. The tannins have softened over time but still support the palate beautifully, and a nice line of acidity keeps the whole thing together and makes it clear that there is plenty of life in this wine still.
