This has an enticing, gentle bouquet with penetrating aromas of plum and redcurrant melded with cedar and barrel spice. Medium-full bodied, redcurrant and red plum aromas intertwined with liquorice, cedar and cloves. Velvety tannins are fine-grained with a drying sensation, richly coating the palate, echoing liquorice and cedar elements. Integrated lively acidity underlines stony minerals and carries to a long, minerally closing. This Merlot possesses an elegant presence with red fruit, minerals and tight-knitted fine tannins. Match with roasted beef and lamb over the next 5-7 years."

The winery writes "The 2019 ‘Burnfoot’ Merlot exhibits ripe Black Doris plums, blackcurrants, wild strawberries, along with infused oak and soft tannins. It is well integrated with a balanced palate making it approachable and enjoyable now, and a delight with lamb, beef or earthy vegetarian cuisine."
