90 POINTS | Cameron Douglas
This is a lovely expression of high quality, dry Hawkes Bay Pinot Gris crafted for the Bostock family by celebrated winemaker Rod McDonald. Layers of lushly framed fruits add weight and texture to this release which overflows with crunchy pear and tangy citrus flavours. An excellent aromatic release from this quality focused producer.
The winery writes "An elegant, aromatic expression of Pinot Gris. Beautiful varietal notes of spiced pear and finely structured to be perfectly adaptable to a wide array of foods."
Cameron Douglas writes "90 pts. A rich, creamy textured and rounded bold bouquet of Gris. Reminds me of Alsace Grand Cru with its power, spice and ripeness. Aromas of sweet pear and apple with a whisper of cider and lees adding a note of beer. On the palate - equally bold with a warmth and richness from alcohol and a lick of residual sweetness contrasting the alcohol. The creamy shape and form on the nose translates to the palate seamlessly. Balanced and well made. Ready. Best drinking from today and through 2022."
