DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL | CWSA 2022
92/100 | Cameron Douglas MS
Benchmark syrah displaying dark berries characters with hints of spice and vanilla. If you enjoy juicy Hawke's Bay Syrah, this is brilliant buying from the team that formerly made the Morton Estate range of wines.

Cameron Douglas MS writes "Aromas of dark berries and peppery spices then scents of dark black currant and blueberries. Sweet toasty wood then barrel spices of vanilla and some clove add complexity and depth. Fleshy, fresh, salivating and dry. Tannins are are abundant with a fine texture accentuated by acidity and spice qualities. Well made, ripe, fruity, varietal and youthful. Well made with decent ageing potential."
The winery writes "A floral nose of iris and lavender with fresh, juicy red summer berries and well-integrated oak, giving aromas of vanilla and smoke. A well-balanced palate with black Doris plum and fig. Tannins are spicy giving great length and structure."
