Blackenbrook are a small, family-run winery in the Nelson region. They take a 'quality over quantity' approach to winemaking and, as well as being an accredited sustainable winegrowing producer, most of their wines are also unfined and vegan.
This little beauty is the first pinot blanc that Blackenbrook have produced but boy does it pack a punch. It's scooped a trophy and gold medal at the NZ Aromatic wine competition and has received rave reviews from a number of wine commentators. It's easy to see why though. Vinted in a rich, silky style with notes of stone fruits and nuts on the palate, it's glorious and lush with a deliciously long finish. Bravo, Blackenbrook!
Sam Kim writes "This is seriously good; the elegantly expressed bouquet shows white flesh nectarine, fig, oatmeal and white floral characters with a touch of spicy complexity. The palate is wonderfully weighted and delightfully flowing with rounded mouthfeel and silky texture, gorgeously complemented by whispering sweetness and juicy acidity."
Cameron Douglas MS writes '"Engaging and intriguing with ripe white fleshed fruits and a little citrus spice, apple and floral notes. Off-dry on the palate - just - a contrasting acid line, fruit weight and a soft spicy accentuated throughout the palate. A beautifully balanced wine with a creamy silky texture and fruit flavours that carry the wine through a lengthy finish. Well made and ready to enjoy from today and through 2024."
