This super classic Aussie shiraz was destined for the Chinese market before the well-publicised trade spat between Australia and China kyboshed that sale. All we can say is that their loss is definitely your gain.
Black Chook Shiraz Viognier struts its stuff with a rich nose of plum and cherry, combined with an earthy savouriness and supple tannins. It's generous on the palate and offers a good food-friendly lick of acidity that will cut perfectly through the fat of beef ribs or a leg of lamb. And at under $20 on case price, this is a firm favourite that will go down a hoot at the table, backyard or beach. Chooks away!
96% Shiraz, 4% Viognier.
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "It's attractively fruited and inviting on the nose showing Black Doris plum, mulberry, mixed spice and almond notes, followed by a succulent palate offering supple texture and silky tannins. Upfront and very tasty."
Natalie MacLean writes "The Black Chook 2019 is floral on the nose with dark cherry, earthy, savoury herb, pepper and toasty oak spice flavours generous on the palate. Great food-friendly acidity to pair with BBQ beef ribs."
