92 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS
FIVE STARS 93/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
The much loved Black Barn estate release Chardonnay has been further developed by winemaker Dave McKee and now has some subtle oak influence to support the creamy palate weight that this wine has always been known for. Some nice flinty aromatics add a modern touch and further complexity - but this Chardonnay retains the easy charm on which its popularity has long been based. A real winner.
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Pure, ripe and fresh with a core of sweet grapefruit and pear then white peach and apple scents. Wood scenst are not a feature in the bouquet so the core of fruit dominates the package of scents. Lovely weight and creaminess with a fine acid line with flavours of pear and quince, lemon and fruit spice, some cool stone mineral quallities and lengthy refreshing finish."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Elegantly styled and delightfully expressed on the nose showing ripe stone fruit, nougat, oatmeal and lemon peel aromas, leading to a beautifully rounded palate offering creamy mouthfeel backed by bright acidity. Harmonious and lingering with stylish complexity."
