GIMBLETT GRAVELS SUPERDEAL
4.5 STARS 91/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
What a winner this Beach House blend is. This is robustly weighted, dense and powerful wine from a producer who always puts a lot of flavour in the bottle. The 2018 is already approachable but will be a cellar star for those who chose to lay this deserving wine down. It's an absolutely amazing bargain for anyone looking for top flight Hawkes Bay red wine at an affordable price point.
Vinted from 65.3% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27.4% Malbec and 7.3% Cabernet Franc. Punchy dark fruit flavours are underpinned by firm tannin structure and creamy rounded acidity on the finish.
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "It's beautifully fruited and fragrant, showing Black Doris plum, spiced cherry, dried herb and floral characters on the nose, leading to a succulent palate offering silky mouthfeel and well-pitched tannins. Attractively rounded and lingering with upfront fruit flavours."
The winery writes "This is a dark and brooding beast with fruits of the forest including Black Doris plum and spiced cherry. It is rich and powerful on the palate with a silky mouthfeel and well-pitched tannins. Attractively rounded with upfront fruit flavours this wine is very attractive now but will certainly reward with time in the cellar. Drink now through till 2030."
