ABSOLUTELY DELICOUS | Limited release Central Otago Methode
95 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS
We loved this one. Vinted from 100% pinot noir this is a soft, quite rich, mouth-filling fizz with some attractive, freshly baked bread flavours. It is a soft-textured wine with a perfect sugar/acid balance that leads to a pleasantly drying finish.
The winery writes "The wine shows delicate quince, peach and apricot fruit on the nose, matched with toasted brioche on the palate from the extended (26 month) tirage time. A lower dosage balances with the fresh acidity, making it a perfect apertitif style of sparkling wine."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Complex and quite elegant, there’s a core nutty quality leading to aromas of fresh citrus and stone fruit scents. The lees autolysis suggest fresh baked goods carrying a mineral quality. A full and richly textured wine on the palate with a volumous mousse that is persistent with a fine bubble. The finish is equally impressive with flavours that mirror the bouquet along with the touch of spice. Fresh, balanced and well made. A wine to drink now or continue to cellar."
