Lovely, fleshy Merlot from an iconic Hawke's Bay producer. The Foxmoth is their Flagship Merlot from the AD range and given the upmost care and attention. Drinking well now with a few years bottle age under its belt but still got plenty of gas in the tank if you choose to lay some down.
The winery writes "Wonderfully expressive and beautifully fruited, medium/full bodied with dark red plums, chocolate, boysenberry and savoury tones. French oak imparts spice and vanilla. A lovely expression of the variety offering excellent drinkability. The vibrant varietal characters of this wine may be enjoyed when the wine is young however some cellaring will result in a more rounded, complex wine. Soft supple tannins and a lingering finish make this an excellent food wine, ideally suited to red meat dishes and those casual pizza and pasta dinners."
Received this after our flight in Omaka’s Fox Moth plane. That flight was delightful ... and so is its namesake wine.
Tastes like a $25 bottle should
Superior body and depth for a NZ Merlot, with that added touch of elegance and intrigue.
