Vigneron Neal Cave is one of Hawke's Bay's finest chardonnay growers and he has produced some truly stunning wines over the years. From the 2022 vintage, this chardonnay explodes on the palate with creamy flavours in the classic lemon-brulee spectrum, some toasty oak complexity and a fresh line of acidity that counters the natural fruit weight of this powerhouse wine. A very subtle touch of flinty gunsmoke on the nose adds a modern touch but this robust release is all about the beauty of tour de force Hawke's Bay Chardonnay.

The winery writes "Alchemy 2022 Chardonnay was created from selectively picked fruit, which was pressed to French oak barrels for fermentation and aging on lees for 9 months. It is wonderfully aromatic with perfumed florals, ripe citrus notes, baked peach, hazelnut and nougat, supported with delicate oak spice. The palate is concentrated, with a broad, soft richness and a beautiful mouth-filling creaminess. The finish is flavourful and long."
