TROPHY - BEST WHITE WINE | Barossa Wine Show 2023
91 POINTS | Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
Yalumba has pioneered the growing and making of Viognier in Australia since 1980 with over 30 years of viticultural and winemaking experience working with this alluring variety. This vintage is richly flavoured but wonderfully balanced with a flow of white peach and ginger on the long finish. This wine is the essence of what Viognier is all about. Top notch!
A wonderful food wine that complements spiced dishes. Fermented & matured for 10 months in older French oak barriques, increasing the complexity and creaminess of the wine and further heightened the palate weight. Totally over-delivers.
Dave Brookes, Halliday's Wine Companion writes "Yalumba continue to lead the way with viognier, capturing its allure where many stumble. Poached pear and apricot, clotted cream, lemon curd, orange blossom, soft spice and crushed stone with a crisp, stone- and citrus-fruit wash that lingers nicely, dotted with spice and lemon curd."
The winery writes "Pure aromas reminiscent of fresh apricots, lifted ginger and fresh white flowers. The palate is long and silky, with luscious textures, stone fruit flavours, a hint of exotic saffron and finishing with an alluring freshness."
