FIVE STARS 93/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Beetle Juice is Wooing Tree's entry level label and each vintage cleans up at the award rounds. Rich and silky smooth with fine tannins. Expect great things from this release.
Sam Kim writes "Sweetly ripe and fragrant, the wine shows ripe cherry, roasted nut, olive and mushroom aromas, followed by a smooth palate offering ripe fruit flavours with supple texture and beautifully infused tannins. Crowd-pleasing and delectably drinking."
The winery writes "Ripe hand picked fruit, gentle winemaking and maturation in French oak have resulted in an attractive wine. A soft and subtle palate of red fruits and fine grained tannins with aromas of blackberries, plums and spice. Showing good focus and length. Excellent value, drinking fantastically well now and will develop and cellar for several years."
This wine is named after the critically endangered Cromwell Chafer Beetle, found in just one site in Cromwell.
