SUPER CLASSIC HAWKE'S BAY SYRAH STEAL
GOLD MEDAL | NWWA 2023
From the first vintage in 1981, Stables wines have been synonymous with producing exceptionally well-made wines at a deliciously affordable price point. Founded by Hawke's Bay winemaking legend Alwyn Corban, the Stables Reserve range focuses on producing classic wines from carefully sourced parcels of grapes from around Hawke's Bay.
With sweet plum, raspberry, cracked pepper and spice, this silky Hawke's Bay Syrah is as classic as they come. Full and rich on the palate without being overpowering, it's delightful to sip by itself or will pair with a wide range of meat dishes. It's the perfect midweek drop and an absolute steal at just $15.99 - you simply can't go wrong.
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Fruity and fragrant, it's attractively expressed on the nose showing sweet plum, raspberry, nutmeg and floral aromas, followed by a beautifully rounded palate offering smooth texture and silky tannins, making it easy to enjoy."
The winery writes "Dark red with purple hues. Full and rich on the nose with raspberry and plum, cracked pepper and spice. Soft and supple fruit forward style. Ripe raspberry and plum complemented by well integrated subtle oak."
I bought a bottle of this and was blown away by the complexity for the price. Lovely red fruits and a nice earthiness and spiciness.
