This is one of the markets most loved and trusted under $20 red wines and Wild Rock has been a constant winner over the years. Gimblett Gravels fruit from the 2015 vintage has produced a wonderfully rich and appealing wine with supple mouthfeel and appealing tannins.
Bottle aged and fantastic value with the Advintage advantage.
Vibrant dark garnet colour. Darkest ripe fruits of blackberry and plum meld with violet florals and Gimblett Dust for a complex aroma. The palate has dense coating of supple tannin rounded by ample fruit ahead of a savoury finish. Dig in.
The winery writes "Our Merlot dominant blend is grown in the Gimblett Gravels Winegrowing District located on the ancient bed of the Ngaruroro River which changed course in 1867 to expose soils for possible cultivation. Darkest red with purple hues. Vibrant nose of cassis, violets, boysenberry and the finest toasted oak. A richness of fruit emerges on first taste with beautifully integrated oak and fine dusty tannin creating a long and delicious finish."
