FIVE STARS 93/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
In typical Mount George fashion, this 2020 merlot delivers complexity and generosity worlds beyond this $11.99 pricepoint. 2020 was an excellent vintage in the Bay, and extra care was taken in the vineyard and winery to craft this impressive wine. Deep ruby red and bursting with ripe plum aromas, this bright, approachable Merlot shows layers of five spice, vanilla and cedar. The palate is plush and velvety, with dark fruit, clove, and a touch of mocha supported by fleshy tannins. Subtle oak adds structure, leading to a long, lingering plum-stone finish.
If you think you can buy a better Hawke's Bay Red for $11.99, we'd love to know whereabouts. Purchase with our very highest recommendation. CLIMB IN!

The palate offers succulent fruit intensity together with supple texture and well-integrated tannins, finishing lingering and delectable. At its best: now to 2030."
