El Payador is a contemporary, fruit driven Argentinian Malbec created in partnership with third generation Mendoza winemaker Jorge Daniel Falasco. The wine is sourced from a single high altitude vineyard at over twelve hundred metres above sea level and primarily matured in seasoned French oak. It's the perfect 'one size fits all' Argentinian red - fleshy and ripe enough to be gluggable but with the palate weight and oak structure to reward the more discerning drinker. The finish is long and dry making it a perfect partner for robust dishes and grilled red meats. It's obvious value. Buy with confidence.

The winery writes "Deep violet red in colour with bright crimson highlights. A ripe and expressive nose of cherries, raspberries and fresh citrus with subtle notes of spicy oak. The palate is medium bodied with vibrant red berry flavours framed by rounded tannins and savoury complexity. An impressively long, dry finish".
Ken Gargett writes "Mendoza Malbec is a crowd-pleasing style. Specifically, 60% from the Lujan de Cuyo sub-region and the remainder from the Uco Valley. The name? Argentinian competitive composing, singing and guitar playing is called Payada, and the performers known as payadores. Often the verses composed are insulting – sounds like a really bad reality TV show. At least you’d have something thoroughly enjoyable to drink while watching. A crimson purple hue, the aromas weave through florals, dried herbs, roast meats, blackberries and coffee grinds. This is quite seamless in style, with sleek tannins and pleasing saturated flavours. A wine of medium length which is quite delicious."
