Elephant Hill has a glowing reputation for producing superb, award winning wines and this release is exactly that. The powerhouse team have really pulled off something special here, and it is very rare to see wine of this calibre from Elephant Hill available at this superdeal price.
Produced using fruit from three of their vineyards (Gimblett Gravels, Bridge Pa & Te Awanga), this excellent 2020 release is a wonderful example of supple, medium to full-bodied syrah. Now 6 years on from harvest, this stunning, bottle-aged syrah is right in the zone and drinking beautifully, but will blossom with a few years in the cellar also. Tuck a 6 pack away and watch the magic unfold.

Cameron Douglas MS writes "There’s no mistaking the core bouquet of red berry fruits, some fresh black currant and peppercorn qualities in the bouquet. Scents are of a new, youthful and still settling in wine. This is confirmed on the palate with core flavours red berry fruits and balck currant set in a taut frame of youth accentuated by acidity and tannins. The use of oak is judicious and well placed."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Pristine and fragrant, the bouquet shows dark plum, rich floral, tar and toasted nut aromas, leading to a succulent palate offering bright fruit flavours with fleshy texture backed by layers of fine tannins. Beautifully composed and expressed, it's elegant yet flavoursome with a prolonged, structured finish."
Candice Chow writes "This deeply purple coloured Syrah is a sub-regional blend from all 3 of Elephant Hill's vineyard sites, co-fermented with Viognier, generous in fruit with spice and meaty details; along with silky tannins and lively acidity lend a moreish closing."
