AN OUTRAGEOUS BARGAIN WITH CELLAR POTENTIAL TO BURN.
92 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS
90 POINTS | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
A perfect example of totally cellar worthy, well priced Chardonnay. The 2020 was barrel fermented in French oak and shows good stonefruit palate weight and a lightly spiced oak influence. The palate is quite fresh with a subtle flinty complexity but the overall feel in the mouth is one of balance with plenty of flavour 'drive'.
This wine completely defies this modest price point. It's clearly exceptional value with the Advintage Advantage and Chardonnay fans who are looking for a well priced option to lay down should cellar a case over the coming 5 years.
The winery writes "This elegant and distinctive wine offers exceptional quality and true regional identity. Beautifully fragrant notes of citrus and stone fruit combine on a complex and finely styled palate."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Varietal, ripe, fruity and classic with a bouquet of sweet oak and vanilla spice, roasted stone fruits and grapefruit. As the wine begins to open up in glass so too does the scale of complexity and detail. Dry, smooth, fleshy, fruity and varietal on the palate with flavours of fresh red apple and white peach, some quince and lemon, vanilla and toasty oak flavours. Fine wood tannins and medium+ acidity add texture, weight and foundation. Balanced and well made, ready to drink upon purchase and through 2024+."
Sam Kim writes "It’s attractively fruited and elegantly expressed on the nose showing white flesh peach, mango, nougat and roasted cashew aromas, followed by a finely textured palate delivering rounded mouthfeel and creamy texture. Well balanced by juicy acidity, finishing long and tasty."
