FIVE STARS 96/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
A study in modern Marlborough Chardonnay with a perfect degree of flinty aromatics that flow through to the palate with layers of tangy fruits and creamy mouthfeel. Captivating wine at an affordable price point. Very highly recommended.
This sophisticated Chardonnay has wonderful minerality and flavours of lemon curd, Kaffir lime, sherbet and orange blossom mingled with hazelnuts and struck match.
The winery writes "Bright lemon in colour, the bouquet offers aromas of toasted pine nuts and citrus mingled with flinty characters. On the palate the wine is bright and focused, opening up to layers of lemon butter and white peach, over minerals and toasted oak. The artisan winemaking approach has resulted in a classic and elegant chardonnay, with a gravely texture, great acid backbone and a long, pure finish."
Sam Kim writes "Powerful, yet with a great degree of elegance, the wine shows white flesh peach, lemon pith, subtle vanilla and roasted cashew notes on the nose with a touch of gun smoke. The refined palate displays awesome focus and drive, combined with creamy texture and firm acidity, making it wonderfully structured and graceful at the same time."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Complex and engaging with subtle layers of oak and minerality weaving through layers of ripe, fresh orchard fruits. On the palate - silky, fresh, youthful, varietal and fruity. Almost full-bodied with a smooth texture, contrasting flavours of oak accentuated with acidity and youthful energy. A lovely wine ready to enjoy upon purchase and through 2025+. Will also cellar well developing more complexity and length - best from 2022 through 2025+."
