Cameron Douglas MS writes "Complex and detailed bouquet with aromas of wood spice and mineral, dark red berry fruits and fine toasty barrel spice of clove and vanilla. Dry, complex, textured and rather delicious on the palate with a fine tannin and core red fruit flavoured mouthfeel. Acidity carries flavours through the palate accentuating primary cherry and plum flavours then toasty spices from barrel. The mineral attributes are a constant throughout the tasting. Well made with excellent drinking on its own or with food."

Bob Campbell MW writes "Concentrated wine with more flesh on its bones than the regular label. Sturdy, complex wine with dark berry/blueberry, cherry, cocoa powder, red-fleshed plum and spicy oak supported by fine, peppery tannins."

The winery writes "Medium ruby heart with red hue. Aromas of ripe red cherries and plums, underneath are wild raspberries and freshly crushed currants.  Classic forest undergrowth, clove, dark spice, and bramble notes surround the fruit while purple florals give everything a lift. An alive palate of fresh dark red fruits, fine grained tannin, well integrated oak. The structure is built around a gentle core of acidity which give freshness to the wine and is capped off with an oyster shell reprise that resonates."
