Nikka's Miyagikyo Single Malt highlights the defining traits of their second distillery, established in 1969 by founder Masataka Taketsuru. The location in the mountains of Sendai was deliberately chosen to contrast with their first distillery, Yoichi, situated in a coastal region.
Miyagikyo Single Malt is characterised by a delicate fruitiness and distinctive aroma, created through the use of lightly peated malt and slow distillation in a pot still heated by indirect steam. Strongly influenced by Sherry casks, this whisky is renowned for its elegant flavour profile.
