Premium Hawke's Bay Chardonnay from Steve Smith MW - the man who drove the winemaking programme for Craggy Range for many years. Now producing wine under his own banner with American tech billionaire Brian Sheth, he is making some truly exciting variations on the classic New Zealand varietals and this is a complex example of Hawke's Bay Chardonnay with a taut, slightly reductive mineral palate that is softened with layers of lemon cream, semi ripe stonefruit flavours and toasty oak.

Bob Campbell MW writes "Weighty, mouth-filling chardonnay with intense oyster shell, citrus/lime, savoury/hedgerow, ginger and nutty oak flavours. Moderately complex with more to come if it's bottle aged. Beautifully sculpted wine that has the X-factor."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Fabulous bouquet of complexity and individuality, scents of peach and apple custard, white nectarine and layers of lees and barrel and white smoke. A youthful taut texture touches the palate first with contrasting flavours of yellow and white fleshed stone fruits, lemon and a core of mineral stony soils then white smoke and new wood power. Tannins and acidity deliver additional mouthfeel without compromising the core fruit drive."
The winery writes "Pale lemon colour with hints of straw. Powerful, youthful, high-energy Chardonnay. Concentrated with nutty, toasty oak, mealy, peachy, fruit-filled brioche and a long, minerally, citrus finish. Great potential for aging."
