FIVE STARS 95/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
94 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS
Rockburn are synonymous with quality, elegance and consistency and the 2020 Pinot Noir knocks it out of the park. A “hands-off” approach delivers a pure expression of Central Otago to your glass; an expressive nose and deeply fruited palate displaying vibrant notes of red and black cherry, rich mocha and supple, silky tannins leading into a very long finish. As always this wine shows classic Rockburn elegance, integrity and balance.
Sam Kim writes "95 pts. A wine of great degree of elegance and poise, it's delightfully perfumed on the nose showing sweet cherry, roasted nut, mushroom and floral aromas with a hint of dried herb complexity. The concentrated palate offers refined mouthfeel and velvety flow, combined with excellent weight and stylish complexity, leading to a persistent seamless finish."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "94 pts. Great colour, concentration of aromas and complexity with an enticing mix of ripe berries, spices of wood and quiet savoury core of dried herb, mineral, place and time. Follow through on the palate is seamless with flavours of raspberry and red apple, dark cherry and dried herbs. Oak flavours layer in quickly with a mix of brown spice, an abundance of fine grained tannins then acidity adds youth and freshness. Delicious, ripe, fresh, varietal and young. A wine for the cellar as well as early drinking if desired."
