98 POINT EDEN VALLEY RIESLING
PLATINUM MEDAL | Decanter World Wine Awards 2022
98/100 | Andrew Caillard MW - "Masterful winemaking"
97/100 | James Halliday
Carefully crafted from single vineyard old vines and bottle aged for five years before release, it's no surprise that this drop is absolutely outstanding. Deemed 'masterful winemaking' alongside a whopping 98 point review from Andrew Caillard MW, this is class all over. The richness and complexity the wine is already showing will continue to develop over future decades. Outstanding.
Andrew Caillard MW writes "Pale colour. Classic developed lime, toasty aromas and flavours with hints of oilskin and sage. The palate is superbly balanced and in clockwork condition with attractive fruit complexity, underlying minerally notes, fine lacy textures, very good mid-palate viscosity and fine linear fresh acidity. A touch al-dente at the finish. A beautiful example of Eden Valley Riesling showing the fidelity of vineyard site and masterful winemaking."
James Suckling writes "So vibrant for it’s age, this has great concentration of candied-lime and grapefruit-zest character. Terrific structure and energy on the driving palate, but all of this is wrapped in rich citrus fruit to create stunningly complete harmony. Very long and compact finish that suggests this has at least a further decade of aging potential."
The winery writes "Pale straw in colour with green hues. Intense classic lemon aromas, with a hint of white flowers. Bottle aged characters of toast, clove oil and lemongrass emerge and combine with the still fresh citrus and white flowers of its youth. The palate has great length and depth with concentrated power and fresh, pristine lime juice overlaid with toasted brioche, sage oil and lime marmalade."
