An excellent example of modern Hawkes Bay Chardonnay from winemaker Jason Stent and his Paritua team. This is 100% barrel fermented wine with powerful fruit weight influenced by a mix of new and seasoned oak. It is perfectly pitched with fruit power and underlying drive but the focus is on fruit not the oak component. Partial malo ferment adds just the right amount of creamy texture and palate weight. Recommended.
Sam Kim writes "This is wonderfully composed and expressed on the nose showing ripe peach, rockmelon, lemon peel and roasted cashew characters with nuances of nougat and cedar. The palate delivers excellent weight and concentration, brilliantly supported by creamy mouthfeel and bright acidity. It is elegant and complex with a persistent refined finish."
The winery writes "Ripe stonefruit aromas of peach and white fleshed nectarine, with notes of pineapple, nougat and vanilla. A silky attack with sweet fruit flavours of peach, nectarine, almond and clove. The rich textural mid palate shows hints of nougat and vanilla balanced with fine oak and a lingering citrus finish."
