93 POINTS FIVE STARS | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Fresh on the block, the Oblix Chardonnay 2021 is amongst a selection of the first wines released under the Fistonich Family Vineyards. Not quite ready to retire, winemaker known as 'the father of New Zealand wine', Sir George Fistonich, established the Fistonich Family Vineyards in 2021 to continue his passion for winemaking and viticulture.
This chardy is full of aromas of grapefruit and stone fruits, followed by a subtle spice lingering on the palate due to 100% barrel fermentation in French Oak. It particularly lends well to soft cheeses, seafood or creamy pasta.
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Elegant and poised, the wine shows grapefruit, apricot, nougat and oatmeal nuances on the nose. The palate delivers excellent focus and linear mouthfeel, beautifully complemented by refined texture and bright acidity, finishing long and stylish."
