A premium wine that perfectly captures the pedigree of McLaren Vale and the brilliance of the 2021 vintage. Awarded up to 95 points by top critics, this is a Cabernet that seamlessly balances plush fruit, savoury detail, and structural finesse.
Deep maroon in the glass, it opens with wonderfully pure aromas of cassis, blackberry and violet, layered with hints of tobacco leaf, dried herbs, bay leaf and savoury oak spice.
On the palate, this cabernet shows impressive concentration yet remains beautifully balanced. Expect plush black fruit flavours mingle with sweet liquorice, choc-coffee and subtle gum leaf notes. Fine chalky tannins frame the generous mouthfeel, while savoury, rustic undertones and a whisper of native scrub add intrigue and complexity. This is a wine built to go the distance - developing extra layers of depth and character in the cellar for up to 15 years.

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Wonderfully fruited with awesome fruit purity as well as elegant complexity, showing cassis, tobacco, toasty oak and violet aromas, leading to a concentrated palate that's sumptuous and delicious. The wine is gorgeously complex with plump mouthfeel, beautifully framed by fine chalky tannins. At its best: now to 2038." 95pts.
Ken Gargett writes "Both American and French oak, ranging from new to two-years-old, was employed for the maturation of this fine McLaren Vale Cabernet. Again, from the superb 2021 vintage. Opaque maroon in hue, the nose reveals notes of dried herbs, tobacco leaves, blackberries and licorice, with an overlay of oak, deftly handled. The note of savouriness is a highlight. There is decent length to be had here, with balance, direction and focus, and the wine finishes with fine tannins. This is a ten year proposition, longer if you have the patience." 94pts.
Campbell Mattinson writes "This wine is both stern and plush at once. It tastes of blackcurrant, gum leaf, gravel, cedarwood and sweet sawdust, with bay leaf and rust characters giving it an extra edge, and indeed lift. Those rust-like notes extent to a rusty, dry, characterful tannin profile, the latter contributing to the wine’s stern, structural persona. Roast lamb, char-grilled steak or anything from the barbecue really: this wine would be a beautiful partner to it." 94pts.
Cyndal Petty writes "Takes me back to Victoria’s alpine hills. A soft wave of sweet liquorice, bay leaf, and choc-coffee. Light on its feet, like most good Aussie Cabernets, with a whisper of native scrub and a charry finish. Long, dry, and savoury. Serve with food — beef ragù wouldn’t go astray." 92pts.
