FIVE STARS 94/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
90/100 | David Walker Bell, WineFolio
The Mission Estate Reserve range offers outstanding value for money and the new livery that they've debuted on their recent releases adds a generous dose of class to an already excellent wine. This malbec is the latest addition to the Mission Reserve range and we're giving it the big thumbs up. Carefully selected parcels of Hawke's Bay fruit were used and matured for 12 months in French Oak to produce this fruit-forward, velvety red.

The winery writes "Delicious and rich, bursting with sweet black fruit and ripe red berry notes."
David Walker Bell writes "A very dark, inky purple colour in the glass. The fragrance shows damson, cranberry, liquorice, cherry, mint, star anise, crushed herbs and a violet floral note. Dry and medium-bodied – maybe lighter in tone than the nose suggests, but it has a density and boldness. The spine of keen acidity is matched by blocky, grippy tannin, with the plush fruit flowing around, through the structure those provide. Softer and sleek at the finish."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Richly fruited and fabulously aromatic, the wine shows black/blueberry, violet, vanilla and cedar characters on the nose with a hint of savoury undertone. The concentrated palate delivers excellent weight and plump mouthfeel, well supported by velvety texture and beautifully integrated tannins, making it delicious and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2030."
