Finding straight cabernet franc is no mean feat (most of it is blended away into red blends) so when we find a quality release like this one from Mission Estate, it's worth making a song and dance about. The fruit has come off their Gimblett Gravels block and has been aged in oak for 2 years. It's elegant, well-structured and will soften nicely over the next 10 years of so.
The winery writes "This Reserve Cabernet Franc is very robust with plenty of fruit on the nose along with some fine, dark red berry aromas. The barrel maturation has given a style with dark red fruit, cassis, sweet cedar and spice characteristics and that floral perfume characteristic of the Cabernet Franc variety."
