A CLASSIC SUPERDEAL
93 POINTS | NZ Wine Rater
This much loved entry level release from the iconic Kumeu River winery is an excellent option for Chardonnay fans looking for a middleweight, fruit focussed wine. It's so obviously Chardonnay but sidesteps the heavier hand favoured by most other producers and offers The Advintage Faithful brilliant value at this superdeal price.
The winery writes "This is a wine where we always have a bottle in the fridge. The perfect aperitif Chardonnay, it's a wine that pairs very well with all types of seafood. Fermented 42% in old French oak barriques, and 58% in stainless steel tanks there is very little oak influence on either nose or palate. This has allowed the vibrant fruit to show through beautifully with lively lime and lemon aromas and a flinty, mineral edginess with hints of fig and white peach."
NZ Wine Rater writes "This has a very appealing, clean, fragrant bouquet with subtle yet zesty lemon, and crisp, gala apple characters, complexed by aromas of lees, brioche, creme brulee, and wet stones. A restrained but very well-constructed wine with great harmony, balance, and poise and a salivating acid structure. It's all about texture, and drinkability. A wine that builds with time in the glass, and the palate goes on and on."
