14th Best Winery in NZ - 2022. The Real Review selected the top 159 wineries in New Zealand after tasting over 10,000 wines, with Radburnd Cellars ranked as 14th. A huge achievement.
Elegant and refined, multi-faceted Hawke's Bay Merlot Cabernet from lauded winemaker Kate Radburnd. The nose is complex and inviting, offering lifted aromatics of wild herbs, lavender, and violets. The palate is full-bodied yet composed, with plush fruit concentration framed by fine-grained tannins and beautifully integrated French oak. This is a wine that speaks to craft, terroir and the enduring allure of classic Bordeaux styling - sophisticated, powerful and immensely age-worthy.

The winery writes "A blend that exhibits the boldness and power of Cabernet supported by plush velvety Merlot. Lifted and intense aromatics of wild herbs and lavender. Generosity of dark cherry and black dorris plum. Fine-grained tannins and seamlessly integrated oak giving balance and structure. Full bodied yet elegant and understated wine that is drinking well currently and will reveal new layers over time."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "A complex and enticing bouquet of complexity and enchantment, varietal signatures and purity of fruit. Plums and dark chocolate, blackberries and barrel spices, violets and lees. There’s a lovely palate squeeze as the wine engages the senses, firm tannins and acidity frame the fruit, adding poise and a youthful tautness. With each sip the wine develops more complexity and charm, length and enjoyment."
Stephen Wong MW writes "Sweet vanilla oak is first to emerge on the nose, accompanied by ever-deepening layers of cigar box, blackcurrant leaf and cocoa nib. Very classically built with lashings of new oak, refined yet firmly structural tannins buttressed against the compact but concentrated fruit. Despite the evident oak, the finish lilts back towards cocoa, earth and fruit before tapering down to a long, measured finish. Old-time elegance on display here, this will evolve gracefully, revealing more of its sophistication as the years go by."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "A compelling rendition of Bordeaux-style red, the enticing bouquet shows blackcurrant, tobacco, rich floral, cedar and mixed spice aromas. It's equally gratifying on the palate with exceptional weight and persistency, wonderfully framed by finely infused tannins. This is engaging with power and finesse, combined with a wave of delectable flavours, finishing robust and sophisticated."
