GOLD MEDAL | Mundus Vini Summer Tasting 2024
GOLD MEDAL | Sunset International Wine Competition 2022
Gnarly Head is consistently one of our top performers with our Californian buyers, and we never thought we would be able to offer this bold zinfandel at this incredible superdeal price. This is serious value for money.
A hands down winner - and one of the best zinfandels we have encountered in this price bracket for a decade or more. This is robust, grunty Old Vine Zin that will satisfy any lover of this most Californian of wines.
Gnarly Head’s famously untamed old vines produce intensely concentrated grapes, and you can taste it in every glass. There are layers of ripe blackberry and juicy plum, backed by subtle notes of toasted oak, all tied together with smooth, supple tannins and a nicely balanced acidity that keeps everything in check. This wine was made for the grill, pairing effortlessly with smoky BBQ meats or anything with a bit of char and richness. Don't be shy. It definitely isn't!

Gnarly Head Old Vine Zinfandel is made using grapes sourced from gnarled 35-80 year old head trained vines. As some of the oldest vines in California, the fruit produced is exceptional, intense and full-flavored. This intrepid Old Vine Zinfandel has a gnarly core of rich, jammy blackberries and mocha flavors with layers of spice and vanilla balanced by complex French and American oak toast. Try pairing this bold wine with braised short ribs, chicken enchiladas or dark chocolate.
The winery writes "This Zinfandel is a bold wine grown from some of the oldest vines in California. Gnarly Head’s untamed vines produce full-flavored grapes, dense with aromas of blackberry bramble, juicy plum, and toasted oak. This medium-bodied wine boasts a balanced acidity and supple tannins for those who like unique, big wines with a little eclectic edge."

Gnarly
Crazy value for money and best Zinfandels I have had in a long while. Works great on it’s own but perfectly paired with slow cooked Ossobuco having simmered for 8 hours. Gnarly!
