Top flight Pinot from this lauded Central Otago producer. The fruit comes from a high-altitude Bendigo site and the result is a wine with a delicious core of red fruits and a line of silky tannins.
Michael Cooper writes "Estate-grown at altitude (320 metres above sea level) in the China Terrace Vineyard, at Bendigo, the 2017 vintage (5*) was hand-picked and matured for 10 months in French oak casks (22 per cent new). A graceful, highly refined red, it is sweet-fruited and supple, with vibrant cherry, plum and spice flavours, complex, strong and savoury, and a scented bouquet. Delicious young, but capable of lengthy cellaring, it’s best opened mid-2020+."
Jamie Goode writes "33% whole bunch. A touch of roast coffee on the nose with lively, sappy-edged black cherry fruit. Concentrated yet very fine with silky, fleshy black cherry and blackberry fruit with incredible detail and elegance. Such a lovely wine with great potential. Thrilling stuff."
