De La Terre is the winemaking venture of Tony and Kaye Prichard who have a winery, cellar door and cafe complex on the Taihape Road out of Hastings. 'de la terre' means 'of the earth' and refers to the vineyards soils as well as the earth brick construction of their buildings. They focus on creating small parcels of unique, elegant wines and grow a number of interesting varietals that are seldom seen in NZ.
This vintage méthode opens with aromas of baked stone fruit and citrus zest, complemented by subtle autolytic notes. The palate is dry and finely textured, led by bright grapefruit and orange with underlying stone fruit, gentle leesy richness and mealy mineral nuances. Fine, persistent bubbles enhance the wine’s freshness and natural acidity, carrying through to a long, clean finish with a delicate, lingering bready note.

The winery writes "Lifted aromas of stone fruit and citrus peel are layered with hints of yeast and biscuit. The palate is dry and focused, revealing flavours of grapefruit and orange alongside ripe stone fruit, subtle lees influence and mineral undertones. A fine, persistent mousse supports the natural acidity, carrying through to a crisp, lingering finish with a gentle savoury edge."
