Peter Lehmann have maintained the Barossa tradition of producing a few barrels of fortified wine from each vintage and have laid the bottled contents of The King to rest and mature in their cellars for 12 months before release. Luscious and densely fruited with enormous depth of character, this rich, complex fortified wine has been made from 54% Touriga Nacionale and 46% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in selected Barossa vineyards. It's long been considered a benchmark of Aussie fortified wine production.
It is best drunk within a day or so of opening and is delicious served at the end of a good meal with a creamy Brie, freshly cracked walnuts or a slice of home made fruit cake. 500ml. Excellent value.

The winery writes "Deeply coloured with a bright purple hue. A bouquet of blackcurrant, Turkish delight and raspberry with nice lavender spice in the background. The palate has concentrated cassis, spice and subtle blackcurrant with lingering yet balanced sweetness."
