Stunning reviews from NZ wine critics cements Elephant Hill as a powerhouse producer. The icons are only released in exceptional vintages and this is EXCEPTIONAL.
The name Hieronymus is derived from an ancestor of Elephant Hill’s proprietor Roger Weiss. Hieronymus was the Lord Mayor Nuremberg in Germany during the 16th century. Pretty neat.
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "This magnificent Bordeaux blend shows pristine fruit aromas of cassis and Black Doris plum together with cedar, tobacco and olive nuances on the nose. The palate delivers outstanding concentration and intensity, wonderfully complemented by fine texture and chalky tannins, providing both structure and exquisite refinement."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "It’s immediately engaging, complex, a core of fruit and no mistaking the oak, but engages the senses in a seductive way. On the palate - flavours of blackberry and sweet olive, crushed dry stones and pencil lead, iron & hot steel, dark plums and dark chocolate. Bold, firm & ripe tannins with plenty of acidity provides a great foundation, toasty new French barrel flavours & dark spices. A truly enjoyable wine from aroma to palate - you will not be disappointed with this purchase."
