This is one of our favourite expressions of coastal Hawke's Bay Chardonnay. Gorgeous wine with lovely palate weight, the 2021 balances the need for generosity and power with the perfect degree of restraint. The stellar reviews speak for themselves.
Highly Recommended.
Cameron Douglas MS writes "There’s an instant and captivating bouquet with aromas of mineral stone and saline scents layered between ripe stone fruit, ripe citrus peel, apple and barrel spices with a light white smoke quality. Complex and new. Delicious, dry and complex on the palate and with fruit from the ‘Sea’ and ‘Earth’ vineyards the fresh spiced qualities of the Te Awanga site with its citrus and white fleshed fruit flavours along with a lick of salinity and the denser richer fruit flavours from the Bridge Pa site present a textured and flavourful wine. Acidity, fine wood tannins and lees set the foundation and key components for ageing. Lengthy finish with best drinking from late 2023 through 2029+."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Beautifully styled and elegantly expressed, the wine shows ripe stone fruit, lemon pith, nougat and cashew characters on the nose, followed by a rounded palate displaying excellent weight and fine flow. Enticing and complex with a lengthy refined finish."
