FIVE STARS, 93 POINTS | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
A lovely example of plush Martinborough Pinot Noir from this excellent producer. All those dark primary red fruits we expect from good North Island Pinot are there in full effect and the palate brings plenty of weight and texture into play. A lovely veinn of creamy acidity keeps things fresh and on point and the finish is long, quite spicy, and very rewarding. Great value here.
The winery writes "Aromas of orange blossom, strong floral notes, and hints of cedar on first breath followed by brambleberries and strawberry preserves. The palate has a soft attack with notes of chalky cherries and a juicy mid-palate weight carried by its supple acidity and a long finish full of allspice, cardamom, and Shiitake mushrooms."
Sam Kim writes "Beautifully fruited and inviting, the bouquet shows sweet cherry, olive, clove and roasted nut characters with subtle earthy mushroom complexity. It's succulent and supple on the palate, displaying fleshy texture and silky tannins, offering terrific drinking. "
