94/100 'Excellent' | Cameron Douglas MS
The name "Old Olive Block" comes from the 100 year old olive tree that grows in the original Old Olive Block vineyard.
Another superstar classic release from iconic producer Clearview Estate. The Old Olive Block is aclassic bordeaux blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and small parcels of merlot and syrah that is sure to impress. This wine has a wonderful nose and the palate is generous, warm and spicy with complex flavours of cassis and plum. Savoury cedar oak and long soft tannins finish this wine beautifully.

Cameron Douglas MS writes "Youthful and vibrant dark purple hues winemaker Matt Kirby has captured the essence of Cabernet with a bouquet of ripe and juicy blackberry flesh laced with scents of violet and fresh tobacco then baking spices of clove and nutmeg. Complex, youthful and new. On the palate a dry wine with plenty of weight, mouthfeel, texture and fruit. Firm tannins and plenty of acidity precede flavours of dark berries and spice then wood smoke and stony earth qualities. Well made, a wine that should be in your cellar ton age with best drinking from 2029 through 2038+."
The winery writes "Intense cassis aromatics with great purity herald this cabernet sauvignon dominant blend. The palate delivers on the fresh blackcurrant promise with impressive length & fine tannins to balance the mouthfeel. Will certainly reward cellaring but already delicious."
