Chateau Garage is the exciting small batch project of Ollie Powrie, the former Head Viticulturist for Villa Maria, and well-known and loved character on the Hawke's Bay wine scene. Few people have such impeccable grower contacts as Ollie, so Chateau Garage was always going to be blessed with the best fruit.
This seductive blend of cabernet franc, merlot and three Italian varieties, fresia, marzemino and teroldego, has been wild-fermented in oak barrels. The resulting wine is both texturally complex and refreshingly crisp, with elegant floral and stone fruit aromas. The team are huge fans of Ollie's wines and with just a tiny number of cases produced, you don't want to miss out on these excellent boutique wines.

A blend of cabernet franc, merlot, fresia, marzemino and teraldego.
The winery writes "A seductive blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot with Fresia, Marzemino and Teroldego wild fermented in barrel. Wild orchard fruits, blood orange and floral aromas, perfectly balanced with a crisp dry palate"
Cameron Douglas writes "A delicious wine witha core of pressed flowers and red melon, some honeysuckle and light mineral qualities. A fine lees and soft neddle point tannins frame the core of fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet, plenty of aciidty to carry flavour adding its own signature of crispness and salinity. Well made with best drinking from 2024 through end of summer 2026."
Stephen Wong writes "Light orange. A restrained and savoury nose reluctantly opens up to reveal tangerine, oyster shell, black pepper, sumac and lightly woody aromas. The palate is brooding with backwards flavours of salted peach, yellow plum, apricot kernel and cinnamon. Very dry on the finish with taut, crisp acidity over long, fine, savoury tannins. This is potentially very complex if given a year in the cellar to unfold"
