91/100 | Jeb Dunnuck
91/100 | James Suckling
The Chapoutier family have produced wines in the Rhone Valley since 1808 and no one will argue that under the stewardship of Michel Chapoutier the wines have blossomed. This beautiful Cotes du Roussillon (syrah, grenache and carignan) has the upfront juiciness of grenache balanced with the syrah component's more serious side. What a steal. Very highly recommended.

Jeb Dunnuck writes "Mostly Syrah yet with 45% Grenache, the 2022 Côtes Du Roussillon Villages Bila Haut has some classic Roussillon notes of darker berries, peppery herbs, spice, and loamy earth. With medium-bodied richness and a supple, elegant, layered mouthfeel, it will compete with wines two to three times its price."
James Suckling writes "A fruity, pulpy and well-made blend of grenache and carignan. Notes of sweet cherries, dark chocolate and sweet spices, following through to a medium body with velvety tannins. Easygoing with a flavourful finish."
The winery writes "This wine is fleshy, well-structured with the warm and savage of soils of the Roussillon area. To drink within 2 years."
