94 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS
Stunning repeat stunning Gris from winemaker Dave McKee. Black Barn are consistently producing top quality wines, and this is a massive staff favourite. Just off dry, it is a lovely example of what great Hawkes Bay Gris should be. This is a must try for lovers of this elegant varietal.
The winery writes "Aromas of fresh nashi pear, citrus blossom and a hint of ginger layered with a hint of creme brulee. The rich, full palate reveals fleshy succulent fleshy notes with a finely textured balance leading into a long finish. A crafted fine food wine."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Ripe, fleshy, varietal and pure fruited bouquet showcasing aromas of white spice an green pear, white flowers, apple, a lees and a whisper of ginger spice. Inviting, fresh and youthful. Warm and generous on the palate with flavours of pears and elderflower, lees and white spices then white fleshed tree fruits and a touch of pith. Decent acid line with a light oily texture and a touch of residual sweetness."
