FIVE STARS 94/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
We loved this one. Chardonnay is far and away our #1 selling varietal at Advintage and if you have $35-$40 dollars in your pocket, you'll go a long way to find a more rewarding wine. 100% barrel fermented, this is a powerfully framed expression of Hawke's Bay Chardonnay. It's classically styled, loaded with creme caramel / lemon brulee flavours and some toasty oak characters. Excellent wine. Straight out of the top drawer.
The winery writes "This barrel fermented Chardonnay shows delicate citrus blossom, and hints of toasted grains. It has a luxurious palate, powerful, complex yet balanced. Delivering caramel and toffee with roasted peach flavours, the palate is completed by a very long sumptuous and layered mineral finish"
Sam Kim writes "This is gorgeously styled and expressed, showing golden peach, baked fig, spicy oak and vanilla characters on the nose. The palate is equally impressive, displaying excellent weight and concentration, wonderfully complemented by silky texture and juicy acidity. Flavoursome and highly enjoyable."
