FIVE STARS 93/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit "splendidly styled"
FIVE STARS 18.5/20 | Candice Chow for Raymond Chan Wine Reviews
Yalumba Samuels Garden Bush Vine Grenache is the boss's new favourite sub$25 Barossa red - a wonderfully middleweight wine that is loaded with personality and soft, slurpy, easy drinking charm. Think of it like a cross between gutsy Central Otago Pinot Noir and lush Barossa Shiraz and you're on the right track.
It's a richly flavoured style but more in the savoury red fruit spectrum - so it provides a lovely counterpoint to the blockbusters the Barossa is best know for. If you're looking for a general purpose red that stands out from the pack but is a sure fire winner, this is one of the safest bets in the market.
The winery writes "Bright aromas of raspberries, pomegranates and a hint of violet are followed by cedar aromas that meld into a savoury complexity. The medium depth palate is finely textured, flavourful and elegant with red juiciness that merges into a long velvety finish."
Sam Kim writes "93 pts. Beautifully ripe and delightfully expressed with sweet cherry, plum, floral, thyme and almond notes, it's succulent and plump in the mouth displaying elegant flow and silky tannins. Varietally pure and splendidly styled."
