FIVE STARS 94/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit "Sweetly fruited and seductively complex, spicy/savoury undertones, leading to a persistent refined finish.
Vinted as a side project by well known Marlborough based winemaker Tim Adams, this is powerhouse premium Pinot Noir - robustly weighted and full of punchy dark fruits. With so many of the top Marlborough Pinots going down the refined and elegant path, we love seeing this gutsy style. Highly recommended.
The winery writes "It's a powerful, pure, dark fruited, full bodied and age-worthy Pinot. Seriously impressive. The nose is quite lifted with dark berries jostling with violets and lavender. There are also earthy, marzipan and chocolate notes in there. The palate is quite rich with plenty of structure. Ripe and dark fruits carry through to the palate. Assertive acidity accentuates the tannins. Smoke, rich earth and twiggy scents. Ripe, punchy dark berry and macerated cherry fruit character. Washes the palate with sweet, clean earthy character, game meat, dark fruits. Chewy tannins and ripples of murky spice. Finishes warm and full. It's a generous style, blocky, full, and many will love."
Cameron Douglas writes "A great bouquet of Pinot Noir - floral, complex and a little mysterious. Aromas of baking spices, red plum and strawberry, some cherry moments, old rose scents and layers of oak. Equally complex and layered on the palate with flavours and textures of plum and dried cherry, whispers of smoke and tobacco, brown spices and old rose. Fine integrating tannins, clay and crushed rock soil suggestions, lovely balance and length. A delicious wine. Drink now and through 2024."
