The nose is full and elegantly presented, aromas of violet, interweave cassis, plum, blackcurrant leaf, unfolding barrel spice and a hint of minerals. Full-bodied, succulent aromas of cassis, plum melded with enticing scent of violet and blackcurrant leaf, and a touch of cloves. The flavours are well-proportioned and elegantly presented. Supple, fine-grained tannins provide a lightly firm grip, linger with violet and herbaceous leaf element to a sustained finish. This is a well-balanced Merlot, Cabernet Franc blend with succulent fruit, floral and herbaceous details and a fine-grained palate."

The winery writes "Ripe black plum flavours with hints of chocolate and licorice along with fine, soft tannins and a touch of oak. A classic Merlot based Hawkes Bay red from a very warm vintage that will reward cellaring for a decade or more."
