Warwick Estate The First Lady Cabernet Sauvignon is a sophisticated, yet fruity and readily accessible red wine. It is released slightly younger than is normal for the Warwick portfolio and is crafted in a "ready to drink" style. In addition to their own fruit, the winemakers have accessed new fruit sources from neighbours and surrounding farms which lowers the costs and allows to supply the wine at a much more competitive price.
The First Lady range of wines are a tribute to Norma Ratcliffe. The founder and first winemaker at Warwick estate and of the first women to make wine in South Africa.
The winery writes "Deep dark fruits dominate the nose initially with blackberry compote and black plums, and dark chocolate. Dark berries follow on to the palate with dried herbs, cassis and dark chocolate."
